Since 1978, we have been efficiently managing the growing challenges of intermodal transport, being a strategic partner for traders, producers, forwarders and carriers.

1978 / Establishment of UMEX as a port operator specialized in the handling of industrial equipment.
UMEX was founded as a port operator specialized for handling industrial equipment and project cargo, having the benefit of a terminal that includes heavy duty cranes, concrete open storage platforms, covered flat warehouses, specific equipment for project cargo handling.
1991 / The company is fully privatized, evolving into a strong and versatile entity.
The company was fully privatized, evolving into a strong and versatile entity. We have diversified the area of services and operated cargoes: the metallurgical products and general cargo were easily integrated into our portfolio. Furthermore, the RORO operations were performed in the specialized berths. We continued being the most experienced and reliable operator for project & heavy cargo in Constanța Port.
2000 / UMEX obtains Germanischer Lloyd certification for the Quality Management System.
UMEX is certified by Germanischer Lloyd Certification for the Quality Management System relevant for Stevedoring for containers and general cargo, in accordance with ISO 9001 Standard.
2011 / The majors stake of UMEX is aquired by MARIA GROUP, an important agricultural developer.
The major stake of UMEX was acquired by MARIA GROUP, an important local agricultural developer. Bulk grains and fertilizers become an important part of our activity range, consequently we made significant investments in order to align our technical endowments to the requirements of this activity.
2015 / UMEX obtains DNV GL Business Assurance certification for the Quality Management System.
UMEX is certified by DNV GL Business Assurance for the Quality Management System relevant for Stevedoring for containers and general cargo, in accordance with ISO 9001:2008 Standard.
2020 / The company begins a significant process of modernization and development of operating capacity.
The company begins a significant process of modernization and development of its operating capacity having as central point 2 major investments in the Port of Constanța, a high speed Terminal for grains and a multifunctional warehouse for bulk fertilizers.
2020 / UMEX is implementing a new Integrated Management System (IMS).
UMEX implements a new Integrated Management System, according to the following international standards: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 și ISO 45001:2018, being certified by the DNV Business Assurance.
2024 / UMEX implements the Integrated Energy System ISO 50001:2018.
UMEX implements the Integrated Energy System ISO 50001:2018, being recertified as well for the 3 international standards: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 by Bureau Veritas Certification Holding.
