The future UMEX fertilizer terminal

We constantly invest in modern technology and facilities because we aim to increase the competitiveness of our customers by increasing the standards of port operations.

An important investment of UMEX is the construction of a multifunctional warehouse for handling / storage of bulk fertilizers with a total storage capacity of approx. 66,000 tons, divided into 10 equal compartments, 2 symmetrical rows of 5 compartments per row.

The warehouse will be made of reinforced concrete and will have a completely automated filling system at the upper part, with a capacity of 600 tons/h, consisting of reversible belt conveyors with trippers, as well as an emptying system with belt conveyors at the bottom. Each of the 10 compartments of the warehouse will have 5x5m access doors. For the total emptying of the warehouse, the front loaders with buckets will be used, which will carry the product to the inlets of the
belt conveyors positioned in the two tunnels.

For the delivery of the cargo stored in the warehouse there will be 3 circuits, respectively:
– transfer of bulk cargo to ship loading bin on berth 44 to be loaded on the ship or barge with a crane equipped with grab
– loading of bulk cargo on the truck or train
– transfers of bulk cargo to cargo bagging facilities in bigbags

The total cost of this investment is estimated at 18,000,000 Euros, to be completed at the end of 2021.
