The future UMEX grain terminal

Our priority is to increase the competitiveness of our customers by increasing the standards of port operations, thus we constantly invest in modern technology and facilities.

One of the most important UMEX investments in the Port of Constanța is the construction of a specialized silo for the operation / storage of bulk grains, which will significantly improve the quality of the processes specific to the handling and storage of grains. The project is under development and will be completed by the end of 2021, with a total investment of approximately 28,000,000 Euros.

The total capacity will be 2 x 80,000 tons, in two symmetrical storage facilities. The first phase involves the construction of 8 bins in the berth 38 (10,000 tons capacity each), which, together with the existing warehouse, will be able to store up to 100,000 tons of bulk grain simultaneously.

The new terminal is flexible and facilitates the discharging of grain arriving in the port by any means of transport simultaneously (train, truck, barge), through the 4 independent transport lines, to any of the 8 storage bins. At the same time, from any bin, the cargo can be transferred at a rate of 1,500 tons/ hour to the ship-loader that will be placed on berth 38.

The loading of the cargo from the train to the silo will be done with a capacity of 600 tons/ h, from the truck to the silo, 400 tons/ h through the facilities arranged on berth 38; the barges will be unloaded on berth 39, supplying the silo with 800 tons/ h; the loading of the ship from the silo through the shiploader will be done at a rate of 1500 tons/ h.
